Program Description

Over the years Dot Art has maintaned a partnership with the Henderson Elementary School, formerly known as the O'Hearn School, to provide after-school art enrichment programs for children in grades 1-5. This partnership shows a commitment by both Dot Art and the Henderson School to work collaboratively to increase arts opportunities for Dorchester children. Partnerships such as these are pivitol facets to Dot Arts programming. Once a week students meet in the school's cafeteria for a 1.5 hour lesson in painting, drawing, and 3-D design. This program reaches anywhere from 12-18 students from the Henderson School. During the 2012-2013 year students will create houses and villages out of recyclable materials as part of the "Magical Environments" Curriculum. Additionally, Dot Art students in the project will leave for their school a beautiful permanent art piece to embelish the Henderson's recently renovated outdoor classroom.
